La Dra. Isabel Durán Giménez-Rico es Catedrática de Literatura Norteamericana en el Depto. de Estudios Ingleses de la UCM. Ha sido Vicerrectora de Relaciones Internacionales de la UCM (2015-2019), Directora del Depto. de Filología Inglesa II (2013-2015), Vicedecana de Estudiantes de la Facultad de Filología de la UCM (2006-2010) y coordinadora del área de Humanidades de los Cursos de Verano de El Escorial. Ha sido Presidenta de SAAS (Spanish Association for American Studies) de 2015 a 2019, miembro electo del General Council de ASA (American Studies Association 2008-2011) y actualmente es miembro del International Committee de dicha asociación.
Es la Directora del Grupo de Investigación Complutense “Estudios de género en el ámbito de los países de habla Inglesa” (Grupo nº 941381). Ha dirigido 12 tesis doctorales y tiene 5 sexenios de investigación. Su investigación y sus publicaciones sobre estudios de autobiografía, género, literatura femenina y etnicidad, incluyen la coedición de ocho volúmenes sobre estudios de género, además de más de ochenta artículos y capítulos, en revistas indexadas y en libros de editoriales prestigiosas como Routledge o Cambridge University Press. Ha sido becaria Fulbright (2000) e investigadora posdoctoral en la Universidad de Harvard a través del RCC (2012) y en la Universidad de Santa Barbara (California) en 2019. Ha sido IP en varios proyectos de investigación nacionales y actualmente dirige el Proyecto I+D+i titulado "Género y patografía desde una perspectiva transatlántica” (2021-2024). Ha impartido conferencias en diversas universidades e instituciones españolas, además de en las Universidades de Bielefeld (Alemania), Olomouc (Chequia), Aarhus y Copenhague (Dinamarca), y en las universidades norteamericanas de Harvard, Riverside, San Diego, Santa Barbara, UCLA, Dartmouth College y Georgia State, o en las de Buenos Aires y Sao Paulo (Brasil).
Curriculum
Dr. Isabel Durán Giménez-Rico is Professor of North American Literature at the English Department of the UCM . She was Vice-Provost for International Affairs at the UCM (2015-2019); President of SAAS (Spanish Association for American Studies) until 2019, and Chair of the Department of English Philology II (2013-2015). She was also Vice-Dean of Students at the Faculty of Philology of the UCM (2006-2010) and coordinator of the Humanities area of the UCM Summer Courses at El Escorial. She has been an elected member of the General Council of ASA (American Studies Association 2008-2011) and is currently a member of the International Committee of that association.
Her research and publication record on gender studies, literature, autobiography and ethnicity include the edition of an eight-volume Gender Studies collection, in addition to more than eighty articles and book chapters. She is the Director of the Complutense Research Group "Gender Studies in the anglophone World”. She has supervised 12 Doctoral dissertations. She has been a Fulbright scholar (2000), and a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard University (2012) and UCSB (2019). She has been PI in several national research projects and is currently leading the project entitled "Gender and pathography from a transatlantic perspective" (2021-2024). She has lectured at various Spanish universities and institutions, as well as at the Universities of Bielefeld (Germany), Olomouc (Czech Republic), Aarhus and Copenhagen (Denmark), and at the North American universities of Harvard, Riverside, San Diego, Santa Barbara, UCLA, Dartmouth College and Georgia State.
