Específicas
Tras el período de aprendizaje, el alumno será capaz de identificar y analizar los rasgos poéticos que conforman el movimiento modernista, de emitir juicios críticos razonados sobre las obras modernistas y sobre la relación de éstas con los diversos contextos históricos y culturales que se hallan en su génesis, así como de valorar la impronta del modernismo en ulteriores movimientos poéticos.
As a result of the teaching/ learning process, the student will be able to identify and analyse the poetical features characteristic of the modernist movement, to express critical views about the works written by modernist poets and about the relationship between such works and the historical and cultural contexts from which they emerged. Finally, the student will be able to detect the influence of modernism on subsequent poetical movements.

Breve descriptor:
En esta asignatura se enseña a los estudiantes la poesía y las poéticas de los poetas angloamericanos más significativos. Primero, nuestros estudiantes se familiarizan con el simbolismo y el imagismo, y, a continuación el curso se dedica a las princpales figuras del alto modernismo, a saber: T. S. Eliot, Ezra Pound, Gertrude Stein, William Carlos Williams y Wallace Stevens. El enfoque pedagógico es fundamentalmente práctico y orientado al desarrollo de destrezas de lectura crítica.
In this course we teach our students the poetry and poetics written by the most significant Anglo-American poets. First, our students become familiar with symbolism and imagism, and then most of the course is dedicated to the main figures of high modernism, namely: T. S. Eliot, Ezra Pound, Gertrude Stein, William Carlos Williams and Wallace Stevens. The pedagogical approach is fundamentally practical and oriented towards the development of critical reading ability.

Objetivos
Los objetivos generales de la asignatura son el aprendizaje por parte del alumno de los fundamentos teóricos de las poéticas modernistas, su familiarización con los principales poetas de este movimiento y con los rasgos distintivos de su poesía, así como la adquisición de una capacidad de análisis y de crítica de los poemas, con especial atención a los elementos de ruptura conceptual y formal que caracteriza a la poesía vanguardista. Por último, el alumno deberá conocer la obra crítica más relevante sobre la poesía modernista.
General objectives of this course: our students will have to learn the most important modernist poetics, to become familiar with the main poets and the specific features of each poet's work and acquire analytical and critical reading abilities, paying particular attention to the conceptual and formal breaks characteristic of avant-garde poetry. Finally, our students will have to handle the most significant criticism on modernist poetry.

Evaluación
La evaluación tendrá carácter continuo. La calificación final se establecerá según tres parámetros, a saber: seguimiento semanal del trabajo individual del alumno (valor relativo entre 20% y 30% de la calificación final), evaluación ensayos y/o presentaciones del alumno (valor relativo entre 20% y 30% de la calificación final) y examen final de cada asignatura (entre un 50% y un 60% de la calificación final).
